September General Meeting

The September 7 General Meeting was held at City Limits in Petaluma. We had a very little group, but a good time & good meeting.

August General Meeting

North Bay Dairy Women General Meeting - Star Restaurant, Cotati
August 3, 2010
Dairy Princess Emilie Strand & 1st Alt. Dairy Princess Regina Camozzi
joined us for the meeting and lunch.
Secretary Susan Bianchi & President Audrey Wheeler
handling business duties.
Dairy Princess Emilie & Alternate Regina
They each spoke about their activities since taking on their princess jobs. Thank you both for taking the time to be with us. We all enjoyed your visit.

Sonoma County Fair Dairy Education

North Bay Dairy Women again manned the Sonoma County Fair Dairy Education Booth for 8 days during the fair. Susan Bianchi & Sue McIsaac arranged speakers and scheduling to provide the visitors to the milk barn with information and a place to have their questions answered about the local dairy industry.
This has been a great way to both promote our wonderful milk products and to educate and inform the consumer public about the benefits of dairy and give them a "local face" of their milk products. This year we had moderate interest at the program.

Feed sample table is a hit with the kids when they discover they can touch all the feeds.
Jolynn McClelland & Art Lafranchi shared a turn at the speaker position. They were a good combination, both knowledgeable and public friendly.
We also provide yogurt and cheese "prizes" for various contests about the dairy barn, the most popular being "how much milk will that cow give?"

"Look....a baby calf!!"
Thank you to Nikki Cheda & Jessica Botelho for sharing their calves for the hutch display.

Kim Jones talks about the milking procedures in the barn.

Maria Camozzi, with one of her cows, leaves the milk barn.

Bob McClure and daughter Michelle speak and answer questions. Bob has been a speaker at this program for several years and does a great job. He has a fun sense of humor!

Watching, questioning and listening....

and petting a calf, a big hit with young & old.

Chris Camozzi & Monique Moretti help with the calf and
Earl & Dot Holtz are manning the feed sample table.

Thank you to Wine Country Ranch Equipment & Bob Giannecchini
for providing the calf hutch.
Also participating as speakers were: George & Margaret Gambonini, Ralph Sartori, John Martin, Leslie Corp, Earl Holtz, Samantha Spaletta, Jen Beretta, Mandy Brazil and Dayna Ghirardelli, Dairy Princess Emilie Strand. Thank you to all of them for their time & talent.
We also appreciate the help of milk barn crew Rachael Cheda & Andy Cheda.
And, thank you to all the North Bay Dairy Women who staffed the table.

June "Dairy Baby"

On June 1st Dairy Princess Emilie Strand (with help from NBDW member Cindy Bordessa) presented a basket of "dairy" delights to the first baby born at Petaluma Valley Hospital in June "Dairy Month". This year the Dairy Baby was a darling baby girl, Lexus. She weighed in at 8 lbs., 9 oz. and her mom and grandmom were thrilled to receive the special gift basket. Baby Lexus is the great-baby of Sam Nissen, a long time Petaluma rancher.
Dairy Princess Emilie also presented the nurses with a basket of dairy treats. Thank you to Emilie, Cindy and Dairy Baby Lexus!
